Your Snapchat Memories, back on the right day.
Snapchat’s export hands you thousands of files dated today, with captions split off and no location. Restamp reads the ZIPs exactly as Snapchat sends them and writes back the real date, time, place and captions, right in your browser.
DateTimeOriginal 2019:07:14 19:42You asked for your Memories. You got a pile of files.
Snapchat’s “My Data” export is free and it’s your right. But what arrives isn’t ready for your camera roll.
Every date is gone
Photos and videos carry no capture date, so Google Photos and iPhone file ten years of summers under the day you downloaded them.
Captions come apart
Text, stickers and drawings arrive as separate -overlay.png files sitting next to each -main photo.
Split across ZIPs
Big accounts get several multi-gigabyte ZIP parts, plus a JSON file with the real times that nothing on your phone can read.
Three steps. About two minutes of your time.
Request your export
In Snapchat: Settings → My Data → turn on Export your Memories (and JSON). Snap emails you the download, “within 7 days” for big accounts. Step-by-step guide
Drop the ZIP parts here
No unzipping. Drop every part (or the unzipped folder). Restamp pairs each file with its entry in memories_history.json and shows you the result before anything is saved.
Save to your gallery
Download the restored ZIP or save straight to a folder (Chrome / Edge). Upload to Google Photos or iPhone and everything lands on its real day.
Open your Snapchat export
Everything runs on this page. Your Memories never leave your device.
Drop your mydata~…zip files here
All parts at once, or the unzipped folder. Works with multi-gigabyte exports.
Best on a computer (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari). Huge exports? Use “Save to folder” in Chrome or Edge.
Every Memory, exactly as it happened.
Dated to the second, not just the day
Current exports usually keep the exact capture time inside the ZIP (extended timestamps), and memories_history.json lists every one. Restamp matches them file by file and writes standard EXIF with your time zone, so every app sorts it right.
Captions back on
The -overlay.png layer is burned back onto each photo at full resolution.
Places, too
GPS from your history goes into the photo’s EXIF and the video’s metadata. One switch turns it off.
Videos untouched
Dates and location are written into the MP4 header. No re-encoding, no quality loss, seconds per file.
Huge exports
Reads multi-part, multi-GB ZIPs (Zip64) without unzipping. Saves straight to a folder in Chrome / Edge.
Private by design
There is no upload step, because there is nowhere for your files to go. Your Memories are read and rewritten in this tab only.
Shows its work
Before you save, see how each date was recovered (exact, same day, or file name only). A manifest CSV lists every file.
Keep them yourself, for good.

Questions people actually ask
Is Snapchat deleting my Memories?
No. Snap says it will not delete them. From January 2027, Memories more than a year old that aren’t part of your oldest 5 GB will be archived: you’ll see thumbnails, but opening, editing or sharing them needs a paid storage plan, or a copy of your own (Snap Support).
Do you need my Snapchat password?
No. You request the export yourself inside Snapchat and open the ZIP here. Restamp never connects to your account.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The ZIPs are read and rewritten by JavaScript on this page. The only network requests are for the page itself and the license check if you buy Pro, which sends a payment ID, never a file.
How exact are the dates?
When your export includes memories_history.json (it does by default) and the ZIP timestamps, Restamp matches each file to the second. If those are missing it falls back to same-day ordering or the date in the file name, and tells you how many of each.
Which time zone is used?
Snapchat stores times in UTC. Restamp writes the local time for the time zone you pick (your current one by default, daylight saving included) plus the UTC offset, so Google Photos and Apple Photos place each Memory correctly.
What about video captions?
Videos keep perfect quality: dates and location go into the file header. Their caption layer is saved next to the video as a matching PNG. Burning captions into video is not included today.
Does it work on my phone?
It works in mobile browsers for small exports, but big exports are much faster and safer on a laptop or desktop.
What if my export only has links and no files?
Older exports listed download links that expire. Request a fresh export with “Export your Memories” turned on and the media will be inside the ZIPs.
Get your Memories out before the archive.
